playing up the triple play

TRIPLE PLAY

  1. In baseball, the act of getting three players out on one play
  2. In telecommunications,  a package combining the three services of telephone, television, and internet access

In the baseball sense, triple plays are awesome, stand-up-and-cheer events. In the telecommunications sense, well, yeah.

But cable provider Comcast has found a rather interesting approach to talking about its triple play offerings. Rather than the usual pitch, it’s launched a website, Tripleslanguage, chock full of slang terms for all the new activities that suddenly become possible when you sign up for a triple play. Red Bull Plasters Field Near Gatwick With Air Race Banner

To promote the Red Bull-sponsored Air Race in London, a 120,000 square foot banner, designed by Ministry of Experience, was painted on the grass just 150 below where passing aircraft enter and leave Gatwick airport, the country’s second largest. It took 1,230 liters of paint (biodegradable, of course), seven people and 210 man hours to create the message.

First it was rebranding 7-11 stores as Quik-E-Marts. Now, the Simpsons are storming the pages of Harper’s Bazaar with a photo spread depicting them hanging around with famous designers and fashion icons.
